HCX Enterprise side Integration

HCX Enterprise certificate trust to HCX Cloud

In the Bookmarks bar, select HCX Manager - Enterprise

Username: admin
Password: VMware1!

Go to Administration > Trusted CA Certificate

Select IMPORT

Select URL.

Type in https://hcxcloud-01b.corp.local

APPLY.

This is required, otherwise HCX enterprise will not be able to integrate with HCX Cloud

Connect to Remote Site

In the Bookmarks bar, select RegionA - OnPrem > RegionA vSphere Client (HTML).

Username: administrator@regiona.local
Password: VMware1!

In the sidebar, select HCX.

In this lab, HCX Enterprise has already been installed and integrated with vCenter in interest of time

Select Interconnect > Multi-Site Service Mesh > Site Pairs

Click CONNECT TO REMOTE SITE.

Click CONNECT.

Once pairing completed, you should see the screenshot as above

HCX Enterprise side Compute Profile

Select Compute Profiles.

Click CREATE COMPUTE PROFILE.

Enter the name of the Compute Profile as ent-comp-prof.

Click CONTINUE.

Ensure that only five services are enabled: Hybrid Interconnect, Cross-cloud vMotion Migration, Bulk Migration, Network Extension, Disaster Recovery.

Click CONTINUE.

Click on Select Resource(s) to open the dropdown.

Select vsca-01a.corp.local > RegionA01-OnPrem > RegionA01-COMP01

Click OK.

Click CONTINUE.

This will select the cluster where the HCX enterprise services will be turned on

Click on the Select Resource dropdown.

Select vsca-01a.corp.local > RegionA01-COMP01 > HCX Components

Click on the Select Datastore dropdown.

Select RegionA01-ISCSI01-COMP01.

Click CONTINUE.

This will determine where the HCX enterprise appliances will be deployed

Click CREATE NETWORK PROFILE.

Select Distributed Portgroup > VM-RegionA01-vDS-COMP
Name: VM-RegionA01-vDS-COMP(mgmt)
IP Ranges: 192.168.110.121 - 192.168.110.140
Prefix Length: 24
Gateway: 192.168.110.1
Primary DNS: 192.168.110.10
DNS Suffix: corp.local

Click CREATE.

This is to create a management IP pool for the HCX Enterprise components (IX, NE, etc.) to consume

Under Management Network Profile, ensure VM-RegionA01-vDS-COMP(mgmt) is selected

Click CONTINUE

With this profile selected, the management interfaces of the HCX components will utilize this profile

Under Uplink Network Profile, select existing network profile of VM-RegionA01-vDS-COMP(mgmt).

Click CONTINUE

With this profile selected, the uplink interfaces of the HCX components will utilize this profile

To conserve IP, HCX Enterprise side can reuse the same profile for Management and Uplink

Under the vMotion Network Profile, click on CREATE NETWORK PROFILE

Select Distributed Portgroup > vMotion-RegionA01-vDS-COMP.
Name: vMotion-RegionA01-vDS-COMP
IP Ranges: 10.10.30.121-10.10.30.140
Prefix Length: 24
Gateway: 10.10.30.1
Primary DNS: 192.168.110.10
DNS Suffix: corp.local

Click CREATE.

This is to create a vMotion IP pool for the HCX Enterprise IX component to consume

Click on Select vMotion Network Profile.

Select vMotion-RegionA01-vDS-COMP.

Click CONTINUE.

This will select the profile to be consumed by the IX vMotion

Click on Select vSphere Replication Network Profile.

Select VM-RegionA01-vDS-COMP(mgmt).

Click CONTINUE.

Click on the Select Distributed Switches for Network Extensions dropdown.

Select RegionA01-vDS-COMP.

Click CONTINUE.

Review the Connection Rules and click CONTINUE.

Click FINISH.
